I have to admire the charitable nature people have in the face of a great storm. Hurricane Sandy may be long done but the truth is that the impact is still felt and people are still struggling to climb back to a place where they are comfortable. Even high school students are troubled in some areas and such events as the prom seem to be put on the backburner indefinitely thanks to low funds for evening dresses. Thanks to the efforts of others, these young girls may be able to achieve that great night.

It seemed like funds were tight and events which young people were looking forward to - the prom, amongst them - didn't seem as if they were going to happen. That was when Dennis McKeon of the "Where to Turn" organization stepped in so that his services would be offered. This particular organization was the recipient of several dresses beforehand and now they would be supplied to these young ladies.

The organization, as you could imagine, showed a good measure of success. In fact, 150 dresses were supplied and it seems as though 100 more are to be seen. Hurricane Sandy's effect has been long-lasting but does that necessarily mean that people can't act upon it in some way? This story should offer a feel-good vibe and it certainly does that. Thanks to this organization and its efforts, many young girls can attend the prom and they can do so while retaining a sense of style.

This is one of those stories that I believe companies such as Estelle's should take notice of because it shows the volume of charity within. These girls needed evening dresses in order to attend the prom but with the devastation that Sandy left, the funds needed to do so had vanished. The prom is the one of the few nights where girls can feel truly special and, for a while, it seemed like it wouldn't come. It's amazing what kind of effect the power of giving can leave.

Hurricane Sandy, at least to me, has left an impression on people that cannot go ignored. That doesn't mean that people are incapable of rebuilding and the steps are being taken to do so right now. Before people can achieve that state of living which they are most comfortable with, though, it's important to look at the lesser events in life. Yes, people outside of the prom might see it as trivial but such a time can mean much more to people who may not have much to their names.
