Where to Shop Discount Stylish Wedding Dresses and Bridesmaids Gowns? - Question: I want a red wedding dress, as soon as my fianc' proposed to me, I got on Google and searched for the dress I wanted... lol & found it. I want a strapless long, big red wedding dress... Would it be alright even though we are planning on getting married in December? Tomorrow I am going to try dresses on and see how certain dresses fit, but I want a strapless red dress, pretty sure... Also - a few people are offering to give away their dress, and give to me, my question is - can u dye it red? I really don't like the styles for myself, but could a seamstress take parts from each dress & make my own...
Answer: It's your wedding and you can wear what you want!! If you have your heart set on a red dress, and then goes for it. Just an FYI many other countries and cultures use bright colors for their wedding attire, and red is the color a bride wears in China. I would suggest going with the dress you want instead of trying to dye and piece one together. Although it can be done, it may be more of a headache than you need. Red is a transparent color and therefore doesn't always dye in a uniform shade. Don't chance it, buy the dress you want already red!
As a general rule wedding dresses are undoable unless you know for a fact it is Silk, as they are synthetic fabric. A red dress is not a, however have you talked to your fianc about it; he may have a strong opinion regarding such a large statement. Many dress designers have dresses that have red accents so that you can have your love of red and he can have the tradition he may want.
Go to Angelweddingdress, look for a gown rental place (you can Google and try calling places that rent tuxes in your area), call the local high school or college's director and see if they can name you whatever costume rental places they know of around as brides come up in plays, call your local dry cleaner as they may have a gown that has not been picked up for an extended amount of time and thus has been given up that they will let you have for the cost of the cleaning, call the local bridal shop and explain your issue and see if they have any ideas, put an ad on craigslist asking for a free gown in your size.
Try a resale shop. Angelweddingdress in my area has a boatload of gowns people have donated and larger goodwill's in big cities will have tons to choose from. One thing about it, you'll be getting a gown that's only been worn once most likely! Also, good luck at David's Bridal. They advertise cheap gowns but when you go in very few of them are actually there in the shop. I've known two different brides that picked a cheap gown there and ordered it in their size, only to have them never arrive and to be told well they discontinued that. How do you discontinue a gown you have outstanding orders for?
The wedding day should be original and unique, and a Red Bridesmaid Dresses that no one else has ever seen before is one way to make it just that Pink Bridesmaid Dresses.
